As Announced with Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 18963 that notepad now become store updatable. What that mean is now notepad app is available in the Microsoft store as Windows Notepad. This makes the app easier to update and to download also.
“Starting with this build, we’re making a change so that future Notepad updates will be automatically available via the store. This will allow us the flexibility to respond to issues and feedback outside the bounds of Windows releases. “
As described in Windows official blog
For me, it means that Microsoft wants to bring changes into its notepad software and currently focusing on it. So, I decided to request some features and upvote some features for notepad.
Create a modern/UWP Notepad app
This is the first feature that I want in the notepad a modern UWP UI. So, I give a Upvote to it. You can also contribute by using this link Upvote Feature. This link will only open on windows 10 as it will open in Feedback hub app.

For now, these are enough. These features will make notepad a little closer to everyone's favorite Notepad++ editor.

If you are a Windows 10 user and used Snipping tool for taking snips or Screen shorts, it’s time to upgrade your experience with new and improved Snip and Sketch. Even though the app was initially criticized for not working reliably or not having all the features that snipping tool offers. Now it has all the features of sniping tool as well as some shortcuts to make your Snipping experience easy and fast.
A great Shortcut
Windows + Shift + S will open the Snip tool bar on the top of your screen with four Snipping options.
- First is Rectangle Snip where you can draw a rectangle to Snip.
- Second is free form snip.
- Third is window snip where you choose a window of app and only that part will be captured.
- Fourth is Full Screen Snip like a Screen short of your Screen.
If the shortcut is too hard for you. You can change shortcut to only Print Screen (PrtScn) button. Just open Snip and Sketch app > Go to Settings > And Click on blue link for using Print Screen shortcut. After this you will be directed to Setting Page from when you can enable the short cut.
Saving a Snip
- Press PrtScn
- Then choose snip mode and snip it.
- Click on the Snip notification.
- Then your Snip will be opened in Snip and Sketch from Where you can edit it, save it or Share it.
Old Sniping Tool
Even if we have new snipping tool that doesn’t make old snipping tool useless. If you want to take a snip on your organization Pc where the Windows versions were stuck and never updated by your organization. You might not be able to enjoy new Snip and Sketch and you must use old sniping tool for the time your organization decided not to update windows.
Another way to Screen Short
Windows game bar is another way you can take screen short, but it allowed only full screen shorts. Press Windows + G and the gave bar will open. From the options press on Camera option that will take screen shorts. These will be auto saved to your Videos > Captures folder. You can also set a shortcut for taking screen shortcuts from the settings. But remember when you take screen short you will always receive a notification saying screen short saved if you didn’t receive notification that mean game bar doesn’t recognize your app as a game and there is no screen short taken.

- The latest 25 photos will remain on the slot and the others will be automatically deleted from physical memory.
- The latest number can be set according to your need. Its main purpose is to allow you to edit a clicked shot on your camera.
- All your Shots will be categorized as Camera name in photos folder
- Pictures >> Canon (for Cannon 5os 1243) >> Afternoon of 25 June (Folders by date name and time of clicking). You can also see them in photos folder of Onedrive, for more comfortable view categorized by tags.
What are the benefits?
Photographers don’t need to remove Memory cards each time to transfer their photos to computer. As Photos will be automatically synced with Onedrive. Even when the user is offline the transfer can be done wirelessly from Camera to Photos app or Onedrive app on your Windows devices.
The easy and organized process will give you chance to focus on photography and photography only. Saving your time and efforts by cutting useless process of transferring photos.
Additional Information
PhotosOS can connect your camera to wi-fi for Indoor shoots and it can also be connected with mobile hotspot for outdoor photo shoots.
The Videos can also be synced regardless of their formats.
PhotosOS powerful editing features enables you to edit and beautify your photos in the camera.

Its long time since Microsoft gave developers a store to publish their apps and make them easily accessible to users and to have more control over permissions that an app requires. However, developers don't seem very happy about this and seem slow to move to the Microsoft store.
Software, not Apps
The new icloud app by Apple is a great example of what people want on the MSwin store. However, if you look on other apps like Adobe Photoshop that is very-very limited in comparison to the real thing, and Autodesk sketchbook that has functionality a lot like the software but still has features missing from the software edition. Not talking about the Illustrator, Premiere Pro, and many others that are not available.
Although from an app perspective they work perfectly, There is Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Whatsapp, and others but all these can be run on a browser very smoothly considering the power of a browser on windows devices. Users don't need only apps on windows as they have iOS and Android devices for that. Users want full software with full functionality. Microsoft needs to encourage developers starting with a new software Department in the MSwin store where the high-end apps capable of professional work will be kept. Currently, there are games and apps departments in regards for softwares
The next step is to allow users to send requests to developers to make feature or change request. Users can see all the requests, upvote requests, and all the stats will be visible to dashboards of Publishers who will bring changes considering requests.
Microsoft Windows Store as a store
The Microsoft store is not the first, Users have Apple Appstore and Google Play store and many unofficial stores. Taking about Microsoft store as the software it has many flaws in designing and functionality.
Design Flows
These simple design flaws can be easily pointed out by anyone
On the left of the picture above, the non-standard size of icons might not be a big deal for some but it really is. It is not only irritating to eyes but also shows a lack of attention to details when creating this product. I hope designers can understand. Also, the blue background in search results looks ugly and the icon of Onenote (particularly in this search) is not of the same size as other icons

Next is the search bar. When the user input something to search, the page of indexed results hides the search bar and when a user clicks on the search button it shows again with the word inputted,
Additional unnecessary and irritating step for the user.
Indexing
Futhermost when I click on the publishing company of an app. All the published apps of that company show up but in a very unorganized manner. Example when clicking on Microsoft Corporation it shows Windows apps, Windows themes, Edge extensions, and even the Language experiences. The results need to be filtered or categorized by type. Otherwise the results page looks bit mixed up with everything
Uninstalling
The main purpose of having a store is to easily find, install and uninstall apps but unfortunately, the uninstall button is missing from MSwin store. I hope they bring an option to uninstall an app from the Store.
